TitleThe views of the poor families in Gaza Strip in the cash transfer by the Palestinian national program for social protection

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the history of social protection programs which managed by the Ministry of Social Affairs (MOSA(. and survey a sample of poor benefit households from the cash transfer program which is the main component of the Palestinian national program of social protection. The researchers used the analytical descriptive method by a questionnaire through a stratified random sample of (758) beneficiaries of the cash transfer program. and SPSS software is used to perform the statistical analysis of a questionnaire. The study revealed a set of main results. the most important finding is a negative association between poverty and educational level of the head of the household. and a positive association between poverty and the unemployment of the head of household. In addition. the results indicated a great attention for poor households to invest in human capital. especially in females. also the study showed sort of satisfaction of the beneficiaries from the program's services. Furthermore. the study concluded with some of recommendations. the most important one is to consolidate the targeting criteria of poor households especially Proxy Means Testing Formula (PMTF) applicable at MOSA and UNRWA. and a combination between relief and development by activation of small projects and conditional cash transfer programs.
