TitleMeasurement of Radiation in Water (In Gaza-Elnasser)
Untitled
Abstract

In this thesis, we measured the activity of Radiation, Alpha, Beta particles and Gamma in tap water in the Nasserregion in general form using five types of detectors. These detectors are: Solid State Nuclear Track Detectors (CR-39), Geiger counter, Portable Gamma Spectrometer, Scintillation counter and Portable Electra Plus. Nasser region of GazaCityis divided into four areas in our survey includes Nasser west (A), Nasser east (B), Nasser shakhradwan (C), and Nassersouth (D). We measured the average of Gross Alpha contamination in Bq/m3. Results obtained show that the concentration of alpha activity ranges from (24.19 – 103.73) Bq/m3, the average value 35.4 Bq/m3 and standard deviation 3.45 Bq/m3. After that, the collected samples exposed to Geiger counter, the probe of the device was placed on the surface of each sample. The pulses from the samples was measured through 300 sec. The radiation concentration in water in the studied areas ranging between (7-13) CPM (Count per Minute), equal (0.71-1.32) kBq , where 361 CPM equal 37 kBq . All detectors results indicate to low level of radiation in theNasserarea, because we have no radiation sources in these samples.
