Abstract

The study aimed to measure degree of availability of International Standards for Education in Emergencies in the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) schools in Gaza Governorates and ways of strengthening them. The researcher used the analytical-descriptive approach and also used a questionnaire consisting of (54) items divided into five domains and an interview with some UNRWA educational experts in Gaza. The study population consisted of all the (257) male and female principals of UNRWA Gaza Governorates’ schools in the academic year 2017-2016. To process the data, the statistical analysis program (SPSS) was used. The study most important finding were as follows: - The degree of availability of International Standards for Education in Emergencies in UNRWA schools in Gaza Governorates was medium with a percentage weight of (66.00%). - There were statistically significant differences at the significance level (a≤ 0,05) between the mean scores of the study sample members of the degree of availability of International Standards for Education in Emergencies in UNRWA schools in the Gaza governorates due to differences in the gender variable in favor of male principals. There were also significant differences in the field of education opportunities, the teaching environment field, and teaching and learning field. However, there were no differences in education policy field and community participation field, and the field of teachers’ working conditions and support and supervision. - There were no statistically significant differences at the significance level (a≤ 0,05) between the mean scores of study sample members of the degree of availability of International Standards for Education in Emergencies in UNRWA schools in Gaza governorates attributed to the qualification variable and years of service variable. - A propose of a set of ways to enhance the degree of availability of education in the provinces of Gaza . Based on the study findings, the researcher recommended the following: - Preparing a plan for education in emergencies consistent with International Standards for Education in Emergencies. - Ensuring the continued readiness of the central and subsidiary emergency committees and determining their functions and preparing their plans.
