Abstract

Study aims: This study aimed to present a suggested proposal intended to overcome the difficulties encountered by captives enrolled in tertiary education in the occupation’s prisons in the light of the experience of liberated captives. Study methodology: The researcher used the descriptive analytical approach because of its relevance to the study and the constructive approach to develop the suggested proposal. Study tools: The researcher relied on three primary tools for conducting the study: questionnaire, interview, and focus groups. Study sample: The study sample consisted of (115) liberated captives who were selected using the comprehensive survey method. Study main findings: The total score of the difficulties encountered by captives enrolled in tertiary education in the occupation’s prisons in the light of the experience of the liberated captives got an average of (4.15) and a percentage weight of (83.0 0%), with a high degree of estimate. There were no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α ≤ 0.05) between the average scores of the liberated captives of the difficulties encountered by captives enrolled in tertiary education in the occupation’s prisons attributed to variables of (number of captivity years, place of residence at the time of captivity, age, academic qualification). The study presented a suggested proposal that can be applied to overcome the difficulties encountered by captives enrolled in tertiary education in occupation’s prisons. Study most important recommendations: Raising the level of coordination and cooperation between the committees supervising education inside prisons with the outside concerned bodies and institutions, most notably the Section of Education in the Agency of Affairs of Captives and Liberated Captives in the Ministry of Ramallah and in the Gaza Strip Seeking to develop the administrative policies of the educational programs provided by the Palestinian universities to captives inside prisons The necessity of forming an expanded media committee including media and academic competencies which meets periodically to ensure that the captives' issues are constantly present in the media, in addition to seeking to holding conferences in support of the captives’ issue, fulfilling their needs and asking for their liberation Keywords: difficulties, tertiary education, occupation prisons, liberated captives
