Abstract

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society since its establishment aims to provide a helping hand to those affected by disasters, wars and meet the Palestinian people's needs, wherever found, and because of ongoing conflict and wars, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society has decided to develop a strategy for intervention Emergency through its various departments. Psychosocial Department develop intervention plan for this purpose in cooperation with other departments (disasters, primary care, ambulance and emergency, hospitals) and the training of the largest possible number of volunteers to participate in the implementation of this plan in time of need and has carried out several activities during and after the war as providing psychosocial First Aid service in the shelters and destructive areas, in addition, providing many consultation and reefer some cases to specialized organizations.

The psychosocial intervention team consists of 135 staff and volunteers trained on psychosocial first aid and distributes in a geographical map of the areas in the Gaza Strip to intervene in time of war, and to provide service to affected people, and the number of beneficiaries of the psychosocial service arrived about 46220 beneficiaries during 5 months. People awareness of psychosocial service has been observed where the locals welcomed the service providers and participated in the activities. It is worth mentioning, that the department provide the staff and volunteers who participated intervention by help the helpers service through specialized trainers from The Gaza Strip and outside.
