TitleThe effectiveness of a program based on multimedia in developing sixth graders' listening skills

Abstract

ABSTRACT_ The study aimed to identify the effectiveness of a multimedia-based program in developing the sixth graders’ listening skills. In order to achieve the aim of the study, used the experimental approach and designed the study tools which included a multimedia-based program, a written test and an observation card. randomly selected two classes of sixth grade students in the second semester of the academic year 2016-2017. Study main findings: 1. There were statistically significant differences at the significance level (α = 0.01) between the mean scores of the experimental group and those of their counterparts of the control group in the listening skills post-test in favor of the experimental group.2. There were statistically significant differences at the significance level (α = 0.01) between the mean scores of the experimental group and those of their counterparts of the control group in the post application of the observation card in favor of the experimental group. Study main recommendations: 1. Providing schools with the necessary infrastructure of laboratories, showrooms, computers and modern projectors to accommodate and apply multimedia technology in our schools. 2. Encouraging supervisors and the school administration to train teachers on using multimedia programs and modern teaching strategies and encouraging teachers to employ those programs and strategies in class in a way that is appropriate and interesting for students.3 . Holding training courses for the teachers of different disciplines focusing on how to design and manage multimedia. Keywords: Multimedia-Based Program, Sixth Graders, Listening Skills.
