---|---|
Untitled | |
Abstract |
This paper identifies the existing codes of practice, standards and regulations (CSR) in Palestine and their inter-relationships. CSR related to rural and urban construction are emphasised. Current practices in the construction industry are also reviewed, particularly for building materials, including structural concrete. Two case studies are discussed in detail. The first relates to regulations concerning low-rise building permits given by municipalities; the second concerns high-rise building permits supervised by the Ministry of Housing. Options and recommendations for a methodology are examined, as is criteria to adopt the CSR of the neighbouring countries. Finally, the modification or formulation of local CSR for Palestine is considered. |
