TitleIncreasing the letters in the invoking periods
Title in Arabicزيادة الحروف في عصور الاحتجاج دراسة نَحْوية دلالية
Abstract

Abstract Objectives of the study This study aims at examining the grammaticallyredundant letters in Arabic language, and then applying these letters in the period of fundamentals of citation that stretch back to the beginning of thefinal quarter of the second century after Hijra. Research methodology: To conduct this study, the researcher used the descriptive approach in the theoretical background of the study and the applied semantic approach in the application part of the study. The study was applied on the sources of citation in that period, namely: the Holy Quran and the prophetic traditions (Hadith), and on poetry, particularly the poetry collections of AwsibnHajar, and Omar ibnAbiRabia, and on prose namely: the public speeches of the Prophet, Alhajaj bin Abu Yusuf Althaqafi, and ZiyadibnAbih. The importance of the study: The importance of this study lies in collecting all redundant letters in one study. This is in addition to the fact that this study aspires to narrow the gap between different opinion pertaining to redundant letters, and in the comprehensive application it makes from various sources like Quran, Hadith, poetry and prose. The findings of the study: The number of redundant letters in the Arabic language is nineteen letters. Some grammarians were hesitant to state ‘redundant letters in the Holy Quran’for being polite with Allah and His words. The most redundant letters are: Min, Ma, La, Alaba, lam, and the least redundant are: Ila, Illa, thom, and Itha. Recommendations of the study: Giving Attention as much as possible to prose studies in the period of citation.Despite its scarcity, it has a great deal of benefit. Drawing the attention of scholars to the grammatical science; because it is the backbone of the language that corrects using the language and prevents committing mistakes.
